Field Notes

Description:

endemic to Guadeloupe and Dominica, it is harmless to humans, but may release a foul-smelling cloacal secretion if provoked.

Habitat:

tropical rainforest

Notes:

I nearly stepped on this snake while I was hiking segment 5 of the Waitukubuli national trail. It was half hiding under a leaf and I stepped right over it. I was running a bit late on the trail but took the time to get some shots of this snake. I brake for snakes! This snake was fairly aggressive when I got close as you can see him coming for me in the second and third shots.
