Field Notes

Description:

This is a specie of Leaf Insect, endemic to Philippines.
The picture shows an Adult Female, of around 7cm in size.
Although she has wings, she doesn't fly.
Males are smaller and slender in size with full wings that are capable of short flights.

Habitat:

Tropical forest in Philippines at lower altitudes.

Notes:

This specie was discovered by my friend in June 2001 and described in December 2009.

Thanks, @Lauren. You will have to come to Asia to look for them then. If not mistaken, the family of Leaf Insects can only be found around South East Asia, Sri Lanka and India.
