Field Notes

Description:

Very tiny, 2 mm Leaf Beetle that turned out to be very colorful yellow and black. It was shiny like porcelain. Family Chrysomelidae, Tribe Alticini.

Habitat:

Abandoned field, semi-urban area, outskirts of San Cristobal de Las Casas, 2,200 meters.

Notes:

Update: This beetle has also been reported from the Mexico City area in June of 2018 https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/14233895.
