Field Notes

Description:

This little wildflower always looks so sweet and cheerful to me when I see it. Because it's partial to previously disturbed areas, it seems like such an optimistic sign that it is among the flora to reappear after an area has been cleared.

Habitat:

Common weed found in meadows, along roadsides, and other disturbed areas. Native to much of the southeastern United States and northern Mexico.

Notes:

Spotted in an open & previously cleared/disturbed lot between industrial complex and uncultivated wetlands/drainage area.
