Field Notes

Description:

Band-winged grasshopper, 40-45 mm in length or so, marked as shown. Hind tibia ("shin") is yellow. Hind wing, exposed in flight, is pale yellow with dark band.

Habitat:

Found on arid ridge above the reservoir, with grasses, yucca, herbs, shrubs, scattered cedar trees.

Notes:

Central Kansas represents the eastern limit of this grasshopper's geographic range.
