Description:

The Common Caerulean, Jamides celeno (Cramer, 1775), is the most widespread member of the genus, occurring in Sri Lanka, India, Assam, Burma, Thailand, Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo, Java, Taiwan, the Philippines, Irian Jaya and Papua New Guinea. Like many tropical butterflies, this species shows seasonal polyphenism.

Subspecies Jamides celeno lydanus (Fruhstorfer, [1910]) occurs in the Philippines generally. Recorded hostplants are Trichilia trijuga (Meliaceae), Derris trifoliata, Pongamia pinnata, Pueraria phaseoloides and Saraca thaipingensis (Papilionaceae).

Habitat:

Grounds of Monte Maria, a church on a hill adjacent to a vast pasture land in Alfonso Cavite, just outside Tagaytay.
