Description:

These larger variations of the Sugar birds from the Cape were photographed eating and flying amongst a sea of protea blooms as spring arrives after a more than average rainy season. The male is identified as having a longer tail of the two which can very in length to up 3x the body length. Whilst making uses of nectar in spring and summer this bird also takes insects and spiders.

Habitat:

A common resident of gardens and fynbos as well as costal scrub
