Field Notes

Description:

Small 15 cm indigo blue (male) and reddish - brown (female) Robin. Male has silvery white forehead. Female is chestnut on upperparts and breast, greyish white on the throat, belly and vent. It's endemic to Java and Sumatera. A shy bird, keeping to the undergrowth of high montane forest.

Habitat:

Deep forest mountains between 1100 m - 2400 m. On Java it is uncommon resident of high mountains.
