Field Notes

Description:

Large cottontail rabbit with rufous neck and black & brown streaked fur.

Habitat:

Mowed edges of ditches bordered by dense thickets.

Notes:

We started seeing swamp rabbits browsing in the mowed areas around 6:30 p.m. They were skiddish and would move into cover if approached.
