Description:

Description: The male has a green head, black bill, a white breast, chestnut brown flanks and black tail. The hen has an overall mottled brown back with an orange bill which has some dark black spots. Both sexes have proportionally longer bills than other ducks. These bills are wider and flatter at the end

Habitat:

Shallow wetlands ponds and lakes that have a emergent vegetation

Notes:

This drake is one of the more colorful spring ducks.
