Field Notes

Description:

These large attractive kingbirds are gray above with yellow below. Wings are gray/brown, bills are black. When flying the dark tail is trimmed in white. When being aggressive some red feathers may be flared on the top of the head.

Habitat:

These kingbirds live in open areas where they are often found perched on fences, as this one was, or on utility lines, or on tree branches in open forests.
