Field Notes

Description:

An agaric mushroom, broad cap. Brown juvenille coating splits to reveal white flesh as the cap grows. Light, cream-coloured gills. A prominent ring is supported quite a way down the stem.

Habitat:

Found in the open under dappled shade. Growing in moist, rich soil covered with a good deal of leaf-litter and decaying organic matter.
