Field Notes

Description:

Bright yellow flower with 10 red spots on the bottom petal. The leaves are cordate and lobate. plant was about 8 inches tall.

Habitat:

Oak woodland at Daley Ranch.

Now I think I gave the wrong ID for my own spotting of monkey flower (http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/12677512). I think mine is Mimulus guttatus as well. I'm going to fix it. :-)
I didn't realize there are 150 species of Monkey Flowers. Could it be this maybe? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mimulus_guttatus
