Description:

This would be called Trametes and it is a genus of fungi that is considered one of the most common mushrooms in North American woods. Usually found anywhere there are dead hardwood logs and stumps.

Habitat:

This mushroom is commonly found on hardwoods such as beech and oak. Mostly known as a wood rotting fungus, but sometimes known as a weak parasite on living trees.

Notes:

This mushroom was spotted at Okehocking Preserve in Chester County, Pennsylvania. They were located on a log surround by standing beech trees. This mushroom was dry to the touch.
