Field Notes

Description:

Largest land mammal, unmistakable. Nose and upper lip elongated into trunk. Ears, very large. Usually has a pair of tusks growing down and forwards from upper lip. Almost hairless with rough grey skin. Limbs massive females and young live in family herds.

Habitat:

Confined to large conservation ares except in North and North east.
