Field Notes

Description:

These flowers are way past prime and are drying out. Bright magenta flower on tall stem about 2 ft tall. The leaves are a little wavy although they're straight when in good shape. I'm not positive on the ID as this was spotted in May yet the blooming period for this species is late summer.

Habitat:

Grassland about 1,500 ft elevation near Oak forest.
