Field Notes

Description:

It is bluish-green plant growing on the outside bark of a tree. It is approximately 4 cm in diameter with lobate lobes.

Habitat:

Lichens require a certain amount of sunlight. They are growing on trees that do not have a dense foliage.

Notes:

This is a “Texas” shield lichen. All lichen are a combination of algae and fungi growing together in what is known as a symbiotic relationship. See lichen portal. This picture strongly resembles my 4th photo.
