Spineless Caper

The spineless caper is a perennial shrub which is found either reclining on the ground but having ascending ends or hanging downwards, and may grow up to more than 3m in length. The immature flower buds of this shrub have been used in the Mediterranean cuisine for centuries; customarily, these buds are pickled in vinegar or preserved in granular salt and used to add aroma to pasta sauces, pizza and other such dishes. The large flowers with white petals and lots of stamens which open in the summer are unmistakable.
