Glaucopsyche lygdamus

Field Notes
Description:
A violet-blue butterfly, about an inch wide. "The Silvery Blue (Glaucopsyche lygdamus) is a small butterfly native to North America. Upperside is a light blue in males, a dull grayish blue in females. Underside is gray with single row of round spots of differing sizes depending upon region."
Habitat:
It seems to really like the peppermint garden in my yard, pacific northwest environment. I live in a forested area with some open sunny spots (when its not raining, so like, once in a blue moon lol).
Notes:
I'm only mostly sure that this is the Silvery Blue butterfly. I was super lucky that it landed on my sock and opened its wings. It kept its wings closed most of the time and fluttered around every time my shadow passed over him. I wanted to get a picture of him with his wings closed too ... so I went back outside, caught him in a jar, took him in, snapped a shot of his closed wings, and let him fly back outside the window.
