Field Notes

Description:

These flowers are like bottle brushes and grow on a small tree. The leaves are bilobed and close together like a book at night. The sections of the inflorescence fall separately to the ground. It is also called "Fairy Duster". The plant is in the pea family, Fabaceae.

Habitat:

Lacandon Jungle, Cascada Las Golondrinas, Chiapas.
