Field Notes

Description:

Pic #3 shows how it was when I first see this bug.
Not sure if the bubble foam is the nest or if its feeding/hunting on something.
There was a larvae inside the foam, but not able to get proper picture of it.
This bug then flew out of the foamy thing and landed on a leaf - Pic #1 & #2
Size is around 2.5 cm

Thanks for the additional info, @Cindy. Should have checked out those spittle more next time. There were so many of them, but this one in Pic #3 shows the hole where she was and I can see something and activity going on :D
I have only seen the spittle (foam) surrounding nymphs that serves as protection from predators, as well as a temperature and moisture stabilizer.
Thanks for the info, @Mark. Saw lots of them in one night :)
Will do that, @Cindy :) Would you know what's the white foam thing is? Is it her nest?
Nice looking Spittlebug/Froghopper! This would be a nice addition to The Hoppers mission.
