Description:

Leaves are similar to those of Maples. They are alternate with give points In The shape of a star. Fruits are spiny and capsule shaped. The tree also produces a sweet aromatic resin under the bark that was once used in chewing gum

Habitat:

Originates In the southeastern part of Northa America. But has migrated to the northeastern and western part of the us

Notes:

Seen in lake Monroe conservation area
