Description:

Based on the super-dark spot in the belly band, I now think that this the same bird as this spotting (http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/24322129)

Habitat:

Spotted on utility pole near an uncultivated area next to a mining operation in Kennesaw, GA

I actually felt a little better after I took a second look at this picture, because I took it about a month ago and if that is a wound on the stomach and not just a dark patch of feathers, then at least the bird has survived this long and appears to be doing just fine!

I agree I think it is a Red-tailed Hawk too. it's probably just sheer size of whatever it's standing on but compared to it, the raptor looks very small.
