Description:

Oscar Fish. The standard size of an oscar fish is 12-16 inches and can weigh up to 3.5 pounds. People get them for their aquariums (small tank not recommended). They are not a schooling fish and do not desire to be surrounded by other fish. There are several color varieties, hence different names for the oscar fish. They are native to Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, French Guiana and in the Amazon River basin.

Habitat:

This oscar fish lives in captivity at the National Aquarium in Baltimore, Maryland
