Field Notes

Description:

brown in colour, hooks at the end of each leg. looks like it has wings that are hidden.have black rings (two ends of ring not joined) around eyes
stayed very still on the leaf

Habitat:

found on a leaf in pulau ubin. the why u so like dat mans garden.

Certainly the same family Cerambycidae, but not the same one as the one you saw from UK. I am on the road with my iPhone, so cannot check further, but I will try to take care of yours later...
Neocerambyx sp. have a neck part like this and females have thin horns and plus this dark circles around the horns ...that's as far as I could determine :/ sorry that I can't be more helpful! here is a link to some Neocerambyx found in Malaysia http://www.angelfire.com/yt/kpyehi2/index34.html try to see what are the species living in your area ;) good luck with id!
