Field Notes

Habitat:

Found on Sugarberry tree (Celtis laevigata) in my backyard on the edge of mixed hardwood/pine wooded area.

Notes:

He was eating his shed when found inside a leaf that had been curled into a funnel with a single strand of silk. Most likely a Hackberry Emperor Caterpillar (Asterocampa celtis), but could also be a Tawny Emperor caterpillar (Asterocampa clyton).
