Description:
The Solomon's seal is a perennial flowering plant from the Asparagaceae family, spreading by rhizomes. It grows up to 1m in height, and sports an arching stem full of alternate leaves - leaves tend to point upwards, while a multitude of tubular white flowers with green tips hang below. From above, the plant looks like in pics N° 4 & 5, so if you want to have a look at those spectacular bells; you better look underneath...
Habitat:
Eurasian species, often found on edges of forests growing in shadow. Here, observed on forest floor on monts at feet of Jura mountain range; in a mixed forest.
Notes:
The Solomon's seal is known as a medicinal plant, being used in treatments of gout and rheumatism.
