Description:
Very small, ranging from 1/2 inch to 2 inches in size, with smooth skin, sticky toe pads, and prominent markings from the outside corner of the eye to the shoulder. Their colors range from shades of green, brown, tan, red, cream, and gray. This one is doing a pretty nice job blending with the pottery glazes.
Habitat:
They need water for reproduction, but once mature their habitat varies widely. from forests and woodlands through grasslands and deserts, to your house and garage, if you are lucky. This one spent the day in my bathroom, on top of a bottle my dad made. I have a creek that runs across the center of my lot, so I am accustomed to having them come up the hill to the patio now, where they will hang around til autumn.
Notes:
I think she came in through the bathroom window. She's gone now, probably the way she came in, emitting some loud "cree-ee-eeeks" in the process. I don't bother to remove the ones I find in the house or garage any more. They just come back in the next day.
