Description:

Eastern Amberwing Dragonfly is 3/4 to 1 inch long with a wingspan of 1 and 3/4 inches. The dragonfly is mainly a yellowish brown color; it has a yellow face with a brown thorax and brownish yellow abdomen. Female has light amber wings with brown blotches and red stigmas.

Habitat:

Laying eggs on a small algae mass while the male hovers above. A city maintained retention pond.

Notes:

The female lays the eggs by maneuvering into position and flicking her tail in the water.
