Field Notes

Description:

A small, protected area of woodland nestled amongst some suburbs around here was positively carpeted with these flowers. Ohh, I hope I can catch these in bloom!

And check this wonderful blog post about Ohio trillium species by A.L. Gibson: http://floraofohio.blogspot.com/2011/04/those-tricky-trillium.html

Habitat:

Oak-dominated forest dotted with what I -think- are vernal pools. Could quite possibly be permanent ponds- I'll check back as the season wears on.

Notes:

Seemed to be the only trillium species around the area, but they were countless!
