Field Notes

Description:

After looking for these for weeks I finally found a field full of them, Early purple Orchids usually bloom from April to June and are one of the first to flower fully here but due to the cold/late spring are only just flowering in late May. They can range from pink to violet.

Habitat:

seen at Low common in Maltby which is owned by the Yorkshire wildlife trust due to it being a site of special scientific interest (SSSI).

Notes:

About 50 separate plants were found in the same field along with 2 other orchid species.
