Field Notes

Description:

Varios shades of green and pale blue with a pink band along the lower part of the upper wings. This moth typically lands with the abdomen raised in the air as in the last picture.

Habitat:

Came to an ultraviolet light in the garden, San Cristobal de Las Casas, 2,200 meters.

Notes:

This genus is in serious taxonomic disarray. Many "species" all turn up identical in genetic analyses. See the comments on the bottom of this link:

Looks actually not bad. But I would not dare to confirm that onlyby a Bold link. Why not adding Pero cf. caerula?
Thank you bayucca. What do you think of Pero caerula (or caerulea) as a possibility? You've introduced me to a genus that is a taxonomic mess. I see that I have several other Pero spp. as well, including this one: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/24631089/fullscreen.
Rich shades of green, my favorite color! Nice Lauren.
Geometridae, Ennominae, Azelinini, Pero sp.. Unfortunately I did not find a reasonable match for your. I only think that it is a classic neotropical one, so not found in US as well. Closest guess would be Pero asterodia, without being suer about it. There at least 50 different species in Mexico! http://www.boldsystems.org/index.php/Taxbrowser_Taxonpage?taxon=Pero%20asterodia
