Field Notes

Description:

About an inch long. Sits at a strange 45-degree angle, wings pulled into almost a tube. Two yellowish "tails" I am assuming are on the lower wings protrude from the end. Face very blunt. Over all, I think this is quite an odd little moth.

Not skittish.. I easily coaxed it onto my finger for a better view.

I;m looking forward to finding out what this thing is.

Habitat:

My front door. Home is in a somewhat-developed Longleaf Pine Sandhill habitat. Door faces due west.

Credit really needs to go to my eagle-eyed 8- year old daughter! She spotted it on the frame of our front door window. I walked right past it!
Thank you for the confirmation, gatorfellows! :-) Beautiful spotting, Karen!
It sure looks correct and the dirty white tale makes it a male: reference: http://bugguide.net/node/view/28016
