Field Notes

Description:

Feralia comstocki is named after James Henry Comstock, an entomologist and one of the founders of the Nature Study Movement of the early 1900s. His wife, Anna Botsford Comstock, was an equally prominent member of that movement, and perhaps more famous today than John. This species is distinguished from other members of the genus Feralia by numerable black patches on the forewing, whereas in other species of Feralia, there are fewer black patches.
