I agree with ShannaB. CSIRO has a nice key but a lot of the morphological features can't be seen in these photos http://anic.ento.csiro.au/insectfamilies/key.aspx?OrderID=27447&PageID=identify&KeyID=27
Hi Katy, welcome to Project Noah! I saw one of these recently too on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland - mine looks exactly like yours (I haven't uploaded the pics here yet) but I couldn't find an ID. I think it's a wasp from the Ichneumonidae or Braconidae family but I'm just not sure - there are a lot of species that look similar but I can't find an exact match. Take a look at these pages and see what you think: http://www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane_braconidwasps/index.html http://www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane_ichneumonwasps/ICHNEUMONIDAE.htm
