Field Notes

Description:

I was very happy to find this beautiful turtle with about a 10 cm shell on the side of my pond. I startled the turtle at first, and it retreated to the water, but then it slowly returned for a peek through the water.

Habitat:

Stagnant freshwater pond surrounded by mixed coniferous/deciduous woodlands.
