Description:

About 15mm long this attractive fly showed distinct golden colouring within black lines and markings. Remarkably clean looking for a flesh specialist.

Habitat:

Enjoying the sunshine on a rock in a local sports reserve. Close to a densely planted (gahnia, acacia and eucalyptus) area.

Both aurifrons and bidentata share this colour pattern. So far bidentata has not been recorded from Victoria, while aurifrons has (with several Melbourne records).
I agree Stephen. For a sarcophage they are incredibly clean and snappy looking dudes.
