Description:

The spinner dolphin is a small dolphin found in off-shore tropical waters around the world. It is famous for its acrobatic displays in which it spins along its longitudinal axis as it leaps through the air. It is a member of the family Delphinidae of toothed whales. In certain regions, such as Hawaii, dolphins spend the daytime resting in shallow bays near deep water then at dusk they travel offshore to feed.

Habitat:

A pod of Spinner Dolphins playing in the waters off Kahe Point (Electric Beach), Oahu, Hawaii.

Notes:

Whenever we are traveling out west on Oahu, if we see all the dolphin tour boats congregating in one area we know it is time to pull over and drop the kayak.

This was a lot of fun. For a few months back in 2012 the dolphins were at this location almost every day. I was able to take my wife, son, sister and mother all out on our kayak to see them.
WOW! nice views of the pods swimming interactions!
Nice spotting pics of this pod!
