Field Notes

Description:

A medium sized toad with typical toad skin and features. The base color is dark on the dorsum and light on the ventral with black spots. The back has spots and splotches of black and some highlights of creme. The parotid glands are pronounced and brown on top.

Habitat:

Omaha is right on the western edge of this toad's range. This one was found near the base of a cement retaining wall in our back yard. Found in abundance to the east of Omaha. They are commonly found at night.

Notes:

Surprised to find this as it is nearly out of range. Or perhaps I am mis-classified it. Perhaps someone with more knowledge could check it out. It is over 3,000 miles north of my area of expertise :-)
