Description:
A sapling. Leaves averaging 8" long, often longer. Rich green, smooth, shiny, somewhat leathery. No odor when torn. These were very common along the path in a hardwood hammock.
Habitat:
Along the Juniper Springs Run... a stream flowing out of the main spring head. Ground was moist, and very rich in organic matter. Several of these of differing sizes were found along the trail.
Notes:
Is this Loblolly Bay, anyone?
