Field Notes

Description:

Little gem of a hummingbird. Male's body feathers glow a metallic bronze, offset by a bright red-orange gorget. Wings buzz loudly, makingthem heard before they are seen. Very territorial toward feeders

Habitat:

In a forest clearing near a feeder

Notes:

The last week or so or area's birders have been talking about a sudden increase in hummingbird activity. This is the 4th specie of hummingbird at my house this year.
Most active at dawn and dusk making photography difficult
