Field Notes

Description:

Vitis vinifera is either grown as a small bush or trained to an overhead trellis. It has deeply lobed, more or less palmate leaves, and branched tendrils emerging opposite from the leaves. The grapevine produces several bunches containing small round, soft skinned green, yellow, red or dark purple berries. This plant can also be found growing spontaneously in wet soils; in these habitats we can clearly appreciate its creeping vine physiognomy.
