Large American Grasshopper in May.

Habitat:

Grassy area in an open ponderosa pine forest in the foothills.

If Schistocerca americana ever reaches Colorado, it does so rarely in years it migrates. Not sure it has ever been recorded here, though. Note that the Coral-winged Grasshopper has RED hindwings, easily visible in flight.
