Field Notes
Description:
Groups of three, almond-shaped leaflets. Plant can grow as a climbing vine, a trailing vine or a shrub. Young leaves may be reddish or green, turning green when fully mature. In the spring, small greenish or yellowish flower clusters are produced along the stem (often inconspicuous). All parts of this plant contain urushiol in the sap which can cause itchy and/or painful, blistering rash in most people who touch it.
Habitat:
Cedar Creek County Park, New York. Growing near an archery range in a more vegetated area of the park, bordering a marsh.
Notes:
I am allergic but fortunately know how to identify this plant pretty easily.
