This nest was in a dead tree at the edge of a swamp.

Notes:

The female woodpecker is coming out of her nest cavity.

nice one Tom!!I recently found a Nutall wood pecker family, http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/22730126 Recently a tree swallow won in a scuffle with the wood pecker .It has taken over the home. Hope fully ,if luck has it,I might see a tree swallow family soon!!
