Description:

A large woodpecker with a mostly black body. The face is black and white streaked, and there is a red crown on top of the head.

Habitat:

Found in my backyard of all places, he was my lifer Pileated :)

Lovely pictures... I love woodpecker, they are fantastic bird.
Thanks Aaron, I didn't even care about what sex it was because I was so happy to finally see a Pileated haha. I was just sitting at the table playing cards with my family and looked out the window and immediately saw it, so I ran to my room to get my camera and of course it was gone. But I went outside and it came back a minute later, and the next morning :)
Great spotting, Ashley. From what I recently learned while watching a pileated nest at work, your bird is a female. :-)
