Description:

Not seen this type of fly before. Pattern on wing distinctive, appears to have white striping on abdomen, and brown eyes.

Habitat:

Just this one on a sneezeweed, Helenium amarum, bloom

Thanks - I will look I am used to seeing the beefly with the long pointy proboscis.
Beefly (Bombyliidae) - genus Anthrax or Exoprosopa. Don't have time to search for the species right now. Nice spotting.
