Field Notes

Description:

Small grey slightly gelatinous open bells about 10mm wide. The gills were a bright white.

Habitat:

Spotted on a woody dry creeper in a damp Eucalyptus forest.

Notes:

Need to look for an ID for this species of Resupinatus. -
? R.cinerascens, which is said to start off tomentose (hairy) then becoming less so. They are said to darken with age, have translucent gelatinous flesh.

Thanks gully.moy. Most of what I know about Fungi is from Project Noah and people like you who help. It's good to have an opportunity to discuss the various features of fungi - makes you want to learn more. I do appreciate your help and time !!

I see what you mean. I think you may be correct with Resupinatus. I am by no means a Crepidotus expert either just trying to help and learn :-)

Thanks for the suggestion gully.moy but all my sources on Aussi fungi suggest that it is a Resupinatus - I am just not sure about the species. I am by no means an expert on Crepidotus but I understand that they have eccentric stipe or point of attachment, if sessile. The entire fruiting body in my spotting hung totally free of the stem they were growing from.

I don't know R. cinerascens, but looking on Google, the flesh colour appears to be darker. Perhaps it's a Crepidotus species.
