Description:

The velvet mite is a large free living mite feeding on small insects, fungi and other creatures in the leaf litter. They are easily encountered because of their bright colors and are mistaken for small spiders. Early instars may be parasites but adults are predators. They are sometimes used in medication and have been called Indian viagra.
