Of course it is the scientific name that is most important, but I would be wary calling Hemidactylus platyurus, the Asian house gecko. This is also commonly applied to H. frenatus. I would call it the flat-tailed house gecko. I have both species resident in my house and I can't say for sure that it is platyurus from the ventral view. Maybe.
